Times have certainly changed since the beginning of telemarketing. Technology has granted businesses more options to communicate with their customers; while social media may appear more appealing, websites a necessity, emails dead easy and print media more classical, what sets telemarketing aside is that it still drives results.

 

While it may seem a solution for yesteryear and not as attractive as social media, telemarketing has evolved with new technology such as advanced auto-dialling, call routing and tracking and can’t be ignored if finding new prospects and generating more business are the ultimate metrics. Here are the top three reasons why telemarketing is important for your business.

 

  1. Direct contact with clients

Telemarketing provides direct communication with real customers. Unlike other communication channels, telemarketing allows you to make sure you are speaking to the right person.

Telemarketing gives immediate feedback. Comparing communication with email to that of telemarketing, customers respond immediately with the latter. This helps a business find solutions to customer problems faster and positively influences the overall customer service your business offers.

 

  1. Operational costs

Telemarketing is still a cheap form of communication per customer and it’s become a lot more affordable of late with using voice over IP (VOIP) and the likes of SkypeOut which allows you to make international calls almost anywhere else in the world at local call rates. Advertising using Google Adwords to communicate with customers can also be effective but often comes at quite a high price that may not necessarily be recovered. Money spent on well-managed telemarketing typically pays off handsomely in almost every case.

 

To get the most from telemarketing, it is important to have a good attitude and keep motivation intact when speaking directly to your customers. Phone-call recipients can hear if you are smiling or are stressed over the phone. It’s also vitally important to know the product or service you are offering well. The person on the other side of the line will also be much happier speaking to someone they perceive to be an expert, rather than speaking to an amateur.

 

If these tips are put into place, telemarketing will quickly show itself to be the superior communications channel that it can be.
