How to maintain your Google ranking organically

Keeping your brand’s website on the first page in Google is not as easy as everyone thinks. SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) is the name given to activity that attempts to improve search engine rankings. Keeping your website’s SEO in line with Google’s requirements will establish your brand as a “guru” and it will increase your visibility in search engine queries.

Generating a consistent source of website traffic is the foundation of every online business. If you don’t have visitors coming to your website, it’s impossible to convert them into prospects and loyal, long-term customers. Contrary to popular belief, ranking for particular keywords is only half the battle. The practice of SEO is constantly evolving and marketers need to stay up to date with the latest trends.

 

Focus on content
Create content that caters specifically to the needs of your target market. Companies who have clearly defined their niche do well with Google rankings. Don’t opt for vague or broad keywords – keep them field-specific. This will attract the right traffic to your website.

Create content around current trends and buzz words
Google trends provide you with a list of what people search for daily on Google. Writing content around trending topics and using current buzz words is great because there is less competition for these “new” keywords. With your content being one of the few write-ups on these unique keywords, you’ll sky-rocket to the top of Google’s search pages.

Identify and delete zombie pages
Zombie pages are pages on your site that don’t provide any value. Google appreciates websites with fewer pages that are of a higher quality, rather than websites that have loads of meaningless pages with content that is duplicated elsewhere on the web. Ensure that your pages are of a high standard by regularly cleaning up technical SEO issues and revising blog posts to keep them current and updated.

 

It generally takes about three to six months when wanting to see results on Google’s platform. Even though this sounds daunting, having procedures put in place to maintain the overall condition of your website will benefit your brand in many ways.
