The mobile web and your business

There is no doubt that the mobile web has grown at a substantial rate. It is estimated that there are 6 billion mobile phones around the world, of which 75% are in developing countries. This has led to an increase in web searches on mobile and has changed the way organisations do marketing. With the use of smart phones, consumers are able to access information on the web whenever and where ever they are.
Due to consumers wanting information anywhere, anytime there is a high mobile use as it makes it convenient to consumers. Real time information also plays a big role as consumers want information that is new and relevant, as well as quick responses from organisations. Organisations also need to consider user experience, this will be all aspects of the end-user’s interaction with the company, its services, and its products.
In order for your customers to have a good user experience, the following factors need to be taken into account: speed, responsiveness, retargeting and optimising your CTA’s.
1. Speed: The success of your mobile strategy depends strongly on the speed of your page. If your page does not load within 3 seconds or less, your consumers will go to your competitors to seek quick information. To see the speed of your page on both mobile and desktop, use Google Page Speed Insights. It not only checks the speed of your site, but also gives recommendations of better backlinks.

2. Your mobile site needs to be responsive and user friendly. For it to be responsive it needs to adapt to any screen size as there are multiple devices with different screen sizes such as tablets, iPads, mobile devices and even smart watches.
In order to get your mobile site to be responsive, pay attention to the following:
• Simplicity is key: use standard HTML
• Use media queries: make sure you have set sized styles depending on each device.
• Layout flexibility: use flexible grids in order to have your content organised, as well as an adjustable width to adapt the viewport size. This will help your mobile site adjust to any screen size.

3. Measuring your mobile site: Look at what they click on to see what draws consumers to your page, as well as looking at what you need to improve on your site. There are tools you can search for that will help you do this.
